Dependence on the digital world is usually dealt as addiction or pathology.
New Localities lists different experiences of affection across online and offline, including family talk, Instagram feeds, scenery of local community, flower garden in Zepeto, concert of k-pop idols, etc. The complex feelings in the experiences are stated by different voices. The video shows the characters constructing themselves in an inseparable relationship with the digital world, leading to question whether the existing idea that locality occurs based on physical land is being broken. It presents a new model of locality(ies), in which people create their own territory beyond the limits of physical space.
The video tells the irony sense of contemporary life by alternating between heavy and light tone. For better accessibility the video has narration and subtitles in Korean and English.

디지털 세계에의 의존은 중독, 병리 현상처럼 다뤄지곤 한다.
New Localities 에서는 온라인과 오프라인을 오가는 다양한 애착 경험이 나열된다. 가족과의 식사, 인스타그램의 소식들, 마을 공동체의 풍경, 제페토에서의 벚꽃 구경, 아이돌 가수의 콘서트장 등. 다양한 공간에서의 일상적 경험들과 그 과정에서의 복합적인 심리, 감각의 재배치가 여러 목소리를 통해 증언된다.
이 영상은 인물들이 디지털 세계와 불가분의 관계에서 자아를 구성해가는 모습을 보여주면서, 지역성이 물리적 땅을 기준 삼아 발생하던 기존의 관념이 깨어지고 있는 건 아닌지 질문한다. 그리고 사람들이 물리적 공간의 한계를 넘어서 자신만의 영토를 만들어가는, 새로운 지역성(들)의 모델을 제시한다.
영상의 요소들은 때로는 무겁게 때로는 가볍게 아이러니한 생의 감각을 다룬다. 접근성을 위해 한국어와 영어를 혼용하여 나레이션과 자막을 사용했다.
